Is Badger organic?

We list 7 Badger products. Between them they carry Certified B Corporation and USDA Organic, each confirmed on the brand's own page or the certifier's records. A seal belongs to a product, not a brand, so check the one you buy.

We have not tested these products. Each one was checked against the brand’s own page and the certifier’s records. Product links may be affiliate links: if you buy through one we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. How we choose.

The Badger products we list

  1. Listed on Mineral Sunscreen

    1BadgerFour ingredients, unscented

Sport Mineral Sunscreen Cream SPF 40

    • Certified B Corporation

Four ingredients: zinc oxide at 22.5 percent, organic sunflower oil, organic beeswax and sunflower vitamin E. The page describes it as unscented, broad spectrum SPF 40 and water resistant for 80 minutes, and says 98 percent of the ingredients are organic.

Good to know: The page names no organic certifier for the finished sunscreen, so treat the organic figure as the brand's own. B Corp is a company certification, not a product one. Contains beeswax.

  2. Listed on Organic Baby Lotion & Oil

    2BadgerFour ingredients, glass bottle

    Baby Oil

Badger lists four ingredients, all organic: extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, calendula flower extract and chamomile oil. The product page describes the oil as 100% USDA Certified Organic, vegan and GMO-free, in a recyclable glass bottle.

Good to know: Not fragrance free: chamomile oil gives it a scent. The USDA certification is stated by the brand, so confirm the seal and certifier on the bottle.

  3. Listed on Organic Belly Oil & Butter

    3BadgerNo added fragrance

    Belly Butter

Badger lists this balm as USDA Certified Organic. The ten ingredients on the product page are organic olive, sunflower, coconut, castor and jojoba oils, organic beeswax, cocoa butter and carnauba wax, sunflower vitamin E and organic calendula extract. The brand says no fragrance is added.

Good to know: Contains beeswax and coconut oil. The Fair Trade certification on the page applies to the cocoa butter and coconut oil only. The organic seal says nothing about stretch marks.

  4. Listed on Organic Face Care

    4BadgerNine ingredients, all organic

    Rose Beauty Oil

A face oil the brand describes as USDA Certified Organic, with nine ingredients that are each listed as organic: jojoba, baobab and pomegranate oils, lavender, rosehip, seabuckthorn, rose, Roman chamomile and calendula. It comes in a glass bottle. This is the food-style tier, the same standard that applies to organic groceries.

Good to know: Scented with rose, lavender and chamomile essential oils, which some people react to. The certification covers how the ingredients were grown and handled, not how your skin responds.

  5. Listed on Organic Shampoo & Hair Care

    5BadgerSix-ingredient hair and scalp oil

    Jojoba Hair Oil

A hair oil the brand describes as USDA Certified Organic, with six listed ingredients: organic jojoba oil, two organic coconut oils, organic rosemary and tea tree oils, and sunflower vitamin E. It comes in a glass bottle with a pump. This is the food-style tier.

Good to know: Scented with rosemary and tea tree essential oils and contains coconut oil. The brand makes scalp claims for it that we have not checked and do not repeat. The Argan Hair Oil in the same line is a different formula.

  6. Listed on Organic Lip Balm

    6BadgerUnscented, olive oil and beeswax

    Classic Lip Balm - Unscented

An unscented stick balm built on extra virgin olive oil and beeswax with rosemary extract. The product page states it is USDA Certified Organic and gluten free, and that it is never made with petroleum, artificial colors or sweeteners.

Good to know: Contains beeswax, so it is not vegan. It has no SPF and is not a sunscreen.

  7. Listed on Organic Men's Grooming

    7BadgerTwelve-ingredient beard oil

    Beard Oil

A beard oil the brand describes as USDA Certified Organic, with twelve listed ingredients led by organic jojoba, babassu and sunflower oils. It is vegan and comes in a glass bottle. Because it is a blend of plant oils, it can meet the food-style organic tier.

Good to know: Scented with bergamot, vetivert, sandalwood, cardamom and black pepper oils, so it is not for anyone avoiding fragrance. The matching Beard Balm is a separate product that contains beeswax.

Questions people ask

Is everything Badger sells certified organic?

Not necessarily, and we do not claim it. Certification applies to individual products. We checked 7 Badger products for this site, and 7 of them carry at least one of the certifications listed here. For anything else the brand sells, look for the seal and the certifier's name on that product's label.

How can I check a Badger certification myself?

Each product below lists the pages we checked it against. For USDA Organic, search the USDA Organic Integrity Database for the company name. For GOTS, the GOTS public database lists licensed companies. Other seals are explained, with their lookup tools, on our labels pages.
